The Legend of Percy
When we were kids we were told the legend of "Percy", to scare us and stop us swimming off the "Jaff" down the Yacht Club near Jacksons Bay.
Apparantly, "Percy" was a giant Conga Eel, 30 foot long, who had a hook through his mush, from a battle hed had with fishermen who had tried to hook him with a gaff hook and he was so strong, he had snapped the hook, and it had stayed in his "boat race", making him look twice as evil.
When we were kids, rumours were rife of attacks by Percy, and loads of people used to say they know someone who had lost a leg to a percy attack.
Percy is still there kids! Still lurking in the stinking mud, waiting to rip your legs off for kicks, so be warned!
I'm looking for more info/photos of Percy, can anyone help?
Percy being a phallic reference.... we reckon the saying for a man going for a piss as "pointing percy at the porcelain" comes from this legend.
